Massage Shop Codes: Cosmo Drumming, 2026

Massage Shop Codes is a multisensory project that archives the movements of female massage workers as intergenerational knowledge, carrying histories of healing, care, intimacy, and women's labor.
The artist closely examines individual massage movements she previously collected through kinetic interviews conducted in massage shops. In its second study, titled Cosmo Drumming, six different drumming massage techniques are translated into notation drawings and interpreted kinetically by three former massage and somatic practitioners, and vocally by an experimental pansori singer.
